Newcomer companies, creating dynamism in the economy, as through the provision of goods, services and new technologies, increasing competition in the market and expanding the industry, making it more dynamic. But the fact that what was going on after their entrance are also important. Because their growth and longevity in achieving long- term goals and policies in regarding employment and economic growth are of particular importance. This study was conducted to investigate the factors that influence the survival of newcomer companies. Company size and growth rate of the industry are features that are assumed to affect the survival of the company. So the effects of these variables on the survival of newcomer companies of Electronic and Electric Industries in Mazandaran province during1981-2011 were studied.
Semi-parametric Cox regression model was used to test the hypotheses. In order to further analyze the data, nonparametric model life table and product limit estimator was used. Data from the Mazandaran province database of Industry, Mine and Trade were collected and for data processing, winTDA software is used. As a result of this study, a positive relationship between firm size and survival rates were approved. But there was no significant relationship between industry growth rates and survival

In new era systems managers should focus on managing the flow of production through all the steps that add value to the final product. Lean production as an efficient approach has presented in literature of production management for increasing the level of products' quality and decreasing cost of production. Although this approach is introduced and studied in many of works but there are some challenges in applying it. It means that there is not a comprehensive model for assessing and analyzing the lean production in manufacturing firms. This paper tries to present a model able to accuracy analyze and measure the leanness degree of firms. In this study, first the literature of lean production and, specifically, existing models that identify the variables and component elements of lean production firms was studied. In the next step a hierarchical model for measuring the leanness degree was developed and its dimensions and criteria's were defined. At final step for assessment phase formulas and relations were developed and applied in Yazd Tile and Ceramics industries.

By studying the literature of lean production concepts and according to the attempts made by the organization to measure and implement the principles of lean production, it is decided to take the two measure streams, regarding to lean production into deep consideration. The outcome of these studies can be condensed into two major achievements: 1) to draw the readers’ attentions to comprehensive definition of leanness 2) To present a framework that can first measure then provide approaches to solve the difficulties in an appropriate implementing in a suitable accordance with the comprehensive definition of leanness. Having achieved a right understanding of leanness concepts, the existing models were studied to measure organizational leanness. Having considered the strengths and weaknesses, a model was represented which is a combination of fuzzy ANP and fuzzy DEMATEL approaches. Finally, by conducting an experimental study the application of this model has been demonstrated.

Agile manufacturing as the most modern production system has covered significant portion of literature in operations management. But there is a great vague. whether agile manufacturing is the same as prior concepts but in a new form or it's a completely new concept accompanied with necessary techniques? Lean production and Agile production are two dominant production systems that were studied through literature survey and their dimensions were defined. Then dimensions similarities and differences among these two approaches were investigated. Finally considering the importance of different dimensions, weighted difference between them is demonstrated. Results show that although there are some common features between these two concepts, their emphasis on different aspects has formed a new approach. The proper attention of agile system to nowadays business requirements and continuous change, has distinguished it from other production systems such as lean production system.
